My group and I chose our topic quite easily. Despite all of the revolutions or turning points we could have chosen from we chose slave revolution. The topic of slavery was a topic that just popped into the heads of Jon and I, Tom just went along with it agreeing that the slave revolution would be a suitable topic for the National History Day project. We also assumed that there would be tons of viable resources online alone considering all of the different government meetings that were held and the accounts of all of the slaves who fought in the war. It was a unanimous agreement that conducting the research also wouldn't fare to be too difficult so there would be little to no problems in doing so. As for the research, as predicted there were little to no problems and our primary sources came easily. All of these sources were extremely helpful and our research paid off in the end because it made the project a breeze. My group and I chose to do the website because both Tom and I took web wizard and he took advanced web wizards. Both of these classes had to do with building websites so it was just another way to make the project easier on ourselves and a little less stressful. The topic of the slave revolution and the Civil War relates to the National history Day topic of “revolutions” because when the Civil War ended slaves all across both the North and the South (mostly the South) were freed and slavery was banished and deemed unconstitutional. African Americans probably thought that this would never be possible and from the moment the North won the Civil War, it was possible.
